In 2008, Research One Pty Ltd and ConnectLaw Pty Ltd formed ‘Legal Research Training International’, a network of expert trainers in legal research, writing, and analysis. We formed Legal Research Training International to fill the gap between theory and practice. That gap exists for two reasons. First, several historical and institutional constraints mean universities cannot adequately teach law students to solve legal problems and to communicate solutions. For example, law exams neatly package facts; yet the real world does not package facts neatly. The second reason concerns the pressures that modern law firms and legal departments face. For example, trainers may tell lawyers to ‘write more clearly’. But clear writing takes time. And lawyers do not have time. Legal Research Training International solves these problems by offering lawyers real-world training in legal research, writing, and analysis, and related topics. We do this by:
