About the trainers

Fabian Horton LLM(Hons) A practicing lawyer and qualified trainer, Fabian has lots of real-life experience in legal technologies and online legal applications. A former Training Officer at the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII), he has lectured in legal research at the University of New South Wales, University of Technology, Sydney and La Trobe University. He has presented seminars on legal research techniques and technologies across Australia and internationally.

Troy Simpson LLB(Hons) Troy has researched and managed many of the Research One’s major projects. He has helped lawyers to prepare winning arguments for some landmark cases, including some major constitutional cases. Before Research One, Troy provided legal advice on complex government legislation. He then joined the Australian National University as editor, contributor, and principal researcher for the Oxford Companion to the High Court of Australia (1998–2001). After the Companion, Troy worked as a rule-base engineer and commentary writer for RuleBurst, a developer of computerized legal expert systems. He is the author of Win More Cases: The Lawyer's Toolkit.
